GMC should prioritise doctors’ wellbeing and communication during disruptions to training, says report

The General Medical Council should prioritise clear communication and care for doctors in training and their trainers in the case of another health crisis such as a pandemic, a report commissioned by the regulator has said.1

Researchers from Newcastle University and University of Manchester examined the impact of the pandemic on medical education and training, and evaluated the changes made in 2020 to support doctors, such as allowing exams to be taken remotely and curriculum derogations.
